Keynote Speaker Mark Abraham
Topic: To Our Children’s Children: Education, Sustainability and Renewable Energy
Education honors those who have walked ahead of us; respects those who walk with us, and considers those yet to come. It is the solution for changing the cycles and attitudes of those around us. What we teach our children will dictate their success in the future.

Sustainability involves the thousands of ways our activities connect to society and the natural world. Since business is part of the problem, it can also be part of the solution by leading the world away from collapse and towards sustainability and restoration.

Renewable Energy means the sources harnessed to create the energy are able to renew and replenish themselves constantly, or within a reasonably short period of time. Awareness raising, education and training in these technologies are essential to their viability.

Mark Abraham is a consultant, educator and author, specializing in building science, healthy indoor environments and energy-efficient construction. He has been active in all facets of the building industry, from masonry to the production of fine furniture, since the mid-60’s. He has received his Diploma of Education from the University of Western Ontario and Certificate of Qualification from the Ontario Ministry of Skills Development. Mark has developed and delivered several theoretical and practical training programs involving emerging technologies.

Keynote Speaker Tedd Benson
Topic: A Key to the Past or Bridge to the Future? The revival of timber framing in North America is now into its third decade. What started with a few individuals in the Northeast has grown to include thousands of people and hundreds of companies throughout North America. While rooted in age-old values and techniques, this success story is really built on out-of-the-box thinking that has lead to impressively unique building system innovations. If timber framing is to remain vibrant for another 30 years, we must continue to look backward but think forward.

Tedd Benson is considered by many to be the single individual most responsible for this revival. An author and occasional guest on This Old House, Tedd operates Benson Woodworking and Bensonwood Homes companies in New Hampshire, which have earned worldwide respect through sensitive and sensible management, design, construction and employment practices. Don't miss Tedd's take on where we, as a Guild and an industry, have been and are going.
