Annemarie Roseberger <Legacytf@aol.com> Stillwater, NY USA - Wednesday, May 26, 1999 at 16:30:46 (EDT) Dear TFG Members & Community: I am leaving Barn Masters to pursue opportunities closer to where I live and my family. I would like to say that meeting and interacting with the members of the TFG has been a wonderful experience. The group on a whole has been a pleasure to work with. I especially enjoyed meeting members at the conferences and being able to put a face to a voice as well as witnessing the "auction" - what an event! I will never forget tiny Ed Levin "levitating" horizontally 6' off the floor of the Timberline Lodge, bidding his heart out! I have never been involved with such a committed group of people that are willing to drop everything to volunteer for a weekend (or week+) to help out other timber framers or an organization in need of their time, energy and expertise. You have a unique and admirable organization - keep up the good work and good luck! There was also a small article about COWEE MTNS TIMBER FRAMERS workshops and apprenticeship programs held on thier farm. It sounds like a neat program and beautiful place. Check out this article. Steve Smith <coweemtn@dnet.net> Franklin, NC 28734 - Sunday, May 02, 1999 at 08:14:18 (EDT) Hello everyone! This winter my tractor and I finally managed to stockpile 14,00ft. of 25ft. raw white pine logs to build a unique 2-story 24x36 or larger barn, a bridge to span the North Branch of the Winooski River, and a 2-bay car garage with living space above. Although I have no experience in the art of Timber Framing, it is in my blood and I cannot wait to get started. My question is this: Is there any possibilty of organizing a raising of any one, or possibly all three, of these structures in the future? My funds are very limited, but what I do have to offer is a remote piece of land 12 miles north of Vermont's State Capital where two rivers converge forming spectactular water falls, fishing, and swimming holes, and 10 acres of open meadow for camping. I would like to know if there is anyone out there who would be interested in helping me organize a seminar at this site? Obviously, this would cut my expenses and allow for a great timber framing experience. Anyone who may be interested in this proposition, or knows someone who would be, please feel free to contact me by email or at home: Chris Dyson, 980 Elmore Road, Worcester, VT. 05682. 802-229-0684. I can't wait to get started, so any input or ideas that you may have to help this project become a reality would be greatly appreciated...thank-you for your help. Appreciate the resources and historic significance of timber framing as our village is in the midst of adaptive restoration of an 1890's gambrel, bank barn into our village hall. The spirit demonstrated here helps to counter some of our residents who would rather tear down the barn and replace it with an irreverant concrete & steel box. I welcome all comments and advice on adaptive restoration.
