Directors at Large
am the sixth of 11 children of a Mennonite minister and dairy farmer. I am a lifelong woodworker and have been self-employed as a contractor and proprietor of Ischua Valley Timber Frames for 20 years before starting a second career as a professor of the building trades. Recently I decided to return full-time to work in the field, focusing on the restoration of barns and log buildings. I served from 2003 to 2009 as a member of the Guild's board of directors.
I live south of Buffalo in Hinsdale, N.Y., with my wife Sue. Her two daughters also live in Western N.Y.; my daughter lives in Vermont and my son in North Carolina. Between us we have two grandchildren with another on the way.
