A spring project: VMI and TFG support Project Horizon

TFG members Grigg and CIndy Mullen will host a timber framing workshop in Lexington, Virginia, April 1–5.  A joint venture of Timber Framers Guild and engineering students at Virginia Military Institute, this year the project involves a small cabin or studio frame for Project Horizon's annual gala fundraiser.

Skip Williams made the drawings for a 16 x 24-ft. stylized English cottage, including a cruck bent and a hipped roof line.  Final details are still developing but they do have the cruck blades in hand.  The hope is to do the project mostly with hand tools.  Meals will be provided on site and lodging will run the usual gamut of tent space, floor space, neighbors, and local families.  If you would like to participate, please fill out this registration form.  The course runs April 1–5. If you have questions, please email Cindy Mullen or call her at 540/817-6578.
