Day 11 Report

Another pretty good day of not so harsh weather and excellent meals. We got a slow start, perhaps because of the dancing the night before, but were fully up to speed by coffee time. There is an enormous amount of tenon and timber repair ahead of us.

Dane and Tom are scouting out the inventory, assigning tasks to Chris, and Isaac and Gene, as the timbers emerge from inventory. Over on the hill, Brian keeps a good-sized crew busy prepping floor boards and trimming twisty joists.

  1. Gene Moore invested a good portion of his day learning to use the adze and trying to subdue the unruly joists.

  4. The work day ground to an ethereal halt as we were serenaded for hours by 25 dulcimers, fiddles and guitars in the capable hands of the members of the Springfield Dulcimer Club, who brought their show to our tent.
  5. As an intermission feature of our dulcimer concert, this Dulcimer Club member entertained us with a harmonica and a truck filled with handmade limberjack figures.
  6. The music was lively enough to keep Ranger Bud (l) and re-enactor Rusty hopping for the evening.
