Crawford Barn Raising
Greetings from Frazeysburg in Licking County, Ohio, site of the Longaberger Company's old-fashioned barn raising on Labor Day weekend. A crew of about 35 people from Longaberger's construction division plus as many timber framers all joined to raise six bents of the original section of one of Ohio's largest old barns. Below we present a few photos of the preparations for this impressive feat.

The first of six bents from the original barn, raised into position for preliminary fitting.
Pike poles to be used in the raising. A crane delivers a load of timbers with John Palmer guiding them into position.

Meanwhile, back at the timber shop, a crew of timber framers led by Curtis Milton has been working since June repairing and cutting the timbers. At left, Dave Dauerty does a layout for a brace, and Bob smoothes a tenon.
