Smithsonian Institution's 1999 Folklife Festival
June 23-27 & June 30-July 4, 1999

Our reporter, Joel McCarty, reports today, Saturday, was the hottest day yet. Today, Benson Woodworking, Alstead, NH, raised a 30' x 40' barn that will serve to house draft animals for the duration of the festival. Here, the first wall of the barn is going up.

More of the barn is up. Guild member John Miller of Dreaming Creek (in blue hardhat in front) helps out.

Musicians commemorate the successful barn raising, as people, below, marvel at the structure.

Wherever the Guild has a project, you will usually find these members there to help out. The best of the Guild's volunteers on projects: John Miller, Bob Smith, Donna Williams and Al Thomas.
