Back to work: Half of a very long plate that will be joined to its mate by a scarf joint. 
It takes a lot of people to lift half of the plate for the other side of the barn. 
Timber framers put the plate in place.  Timber framers use the Commander and smaller mallets to persuade the pegs into place. 
The second part of the plate is hoisted into place.  
Brian Beals of Yellow Springs, OH, organizes a line of volunteers to feed decking for the 2nd-story floor to those working above. 
Workers on the 2nd story install the decking.
