July 29 Raising Day! Part 5 A long line of lifters raise the first of 2 purlin plates that run the length of the barn. From a different view, you can see the volunteers lifting the second purlin plate. The rafters will soon complete the frame. The last few rafters being installed. Susanna Kricker finishes spiking the last rafter of the day. Timber framers at the top attach the ceremonial tree as a symbol of the trees that gave the barn life. BACK NEXT
