Palomar's Timber Framing Workshop
continued A gable-end rafter is test fitted into an assembly. 
The gable-end rafter is lifted into place during the raising. 
Final assembly details. Note through tenon on scarfed posts.  Palomar's Woodworking Department held its annual awards picnic in conjunction with the timber frame raising. The event featured students' work including these wooden hand planes, tool boxes and furniture.   Sam Maloof, one of the world's premier woodworkers, was honored at the awards picnic and participated in the raising. Right: While most of the frame was hand raised, a forklift helped with heavier pieces. Here the tower roof assembly is ready to be lifted by a crane rented just for this "pick." 
The crane lifts the roof assembly toward its final resting place.
