Welcome to the Timber Frame Engineering Council 2017 Symposium event page. The Symposium may seem like it’s a long way off, but May 2017 will be here before you know it!
The Timber Frame Engineering Council is planning a full and fascinating symposium in Madison, WI, to be held May 18th and 19th, 2017, immediately prior to the 2017 Guild Conference.
The planning committee, led by Dick Schmidt, has built a program that is a must for any TFEC member. Non-TFEC members will find the program compelling as well: keynote addresses by Ben Brungraber of Fire Tower Engineered Timber and Gerry Epp of StructureCraft, as well as a packed technical program, will make for two days of accelerated learning and information sharing. Symposium-goers also have the opportunity to tour the US Forest Products Laboratory (FPL), where they will be addressed by Mike Ritter, Assistant Director of Research, prior to exploring the FPL. The facility includes labs dedicated Pressure Treatment, Emerging Mechanics, Composites, Weathering, and Wood Anatomy, as well as the Advanced Housing Research Center. The TFEC Symposium is sponsored by Simpson Strong-Tie, manufacturer of structural connecting systems for wood, steel, masonry, concrete, and composite wood building construction.
Includes all conference presentations, meals, and tour of the Forest Products Lab
