This spring, TTRAG will host a 3-day conference and tour in western Massachusetts. This conference will feature a tour of the Northfield area led by J. Ritchie Garrison and Bill Flynt. Mr. Flynt is an architectural conservator at Historic Deerfield and will be presenting on dendrochronology and Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) carbon 14 dating. Mr. Garrison is the director of the Winterthur Program in American Material Culture at the University of Delaware, and has studied and written about the material culture of Franklin County, MA, extensively. In addition to leading the Saturday tour, he will be speaking about his 2006 publication, Two Carpenters: Architecture and Building in Early New England. The book relates an account of the lives of two brothers, Calvin and George Stearns, who were carpenters during the first half of the nineteenth century.

Transportation from area airports
Bradley International Airport (Hartford)
The best way to get to Northampton is to book a flight to Bradley International Airport (BDL/Hartford), which is located near Hartford, Connecticut (70km/40 miles from Northampton).
For transportation from the airport to Northampton, we recommend the Valley Transporter.
You can also take a bus from Bradley to Northampton. When you arrive at Bradley Airport, proceed to the baggage area at the lower level. Take a bus to Springfield, Massachusetts and then transfer to Northampton. The total cost from Bradley to Northampton by bus is approximately $25, and the trip takes about 1.5 hours. During the day, buses run frequently; at night, service is less frequent. Taxi service from Bradley to Northampton costs approximately $65, at night it costs approximately $95.
Logan International Airport (Boston)
If you fly to Boston's Logan International Airport (BOS/Boston Logan) (about 160km/100 miles from Northampton), taxis and buses leave from the lower level of each terminal.
Buses go to South Station in Boston, where you can take a bus to Northampton, via Springfield. The trip will take about 3.5 hours and cost approximately $45. The last bus from Boston to Northampton is at 5:15 p.m. Taxi service from Logan airport to Northampton costs approximately $130.
