Do you remember where you were on September 8, 2017? You may have been 1 of about 100 Guild members who descended on the small town of Strafford, VT for a weekend of learning, cutting, fellowship and food. Whether you attended the gathering last year or were not able to make it, you are in luck because another gathering is in the works for September 8-9, 2018. At this year's meeting we'll remember our friend and exceptional framer, Scott Killian (June 5, 1989 - May 14, 2018). He was a key player at last year's event, showing up early to help get the framing going, and volunteering for anything and everything that needed doing. This year we'll cut a pavilion frame in his honor, eventually to be raised in his hometown of Bethel, VT. It was common for Scott to head back to his hometown to play soccer, even after long days of slinging cribbing with the Building Heritage crew.
Here’s what else you can expect:
The program for this event focuses on building knowledge and building community - something at which the Guild and its members excel. We are trying to make this event more accessible to all members, from preservationists to shop folks to hobbyists to, well, anyone in the wants to come, celebrate Scott, learn about Strafford, and build the Guild community. Therefore, we are offering a sliding-scale fee ($60-$150) to register for this event. $60.00 covers only the hard costs of the gathering (meals and t-shirts). If you are able, please consider donating more so that the Guild can continue to host events like this in the future. If you register at the $100 level or above, your registration is covered and you get your name or company logo on the event t-shirt, but any amount helps.
****Due to a generous donation in Scott Killian's honor, those who wish to only attend the Saturday night dinner at Strafford Village Farm can do so at no cost. Please click on the register button to let us know you are coming!
