A Two-Day Hands-On Introduction to Timber Frame Layout

The Timber Framers Guild will offer a two-day intensive timber frame layout workshop at
the Orange Baptist Church Pavilion, on September 11 / 12, 2026. The workshop will
introduce new and developing timber framers to the fundamentals of traditional timber
frame layout while contributing directly to the construction of the Orange Baptist Church
Pavilion.
This workshop is designed to bridge the gap between learning about timber framing and
actually laying out a timber frame. Participants will work with instructors to develop the
skills, vocabulary, confidence, and practical understanding needed to begin participating
effectively in timber frame construction.
Rather than treating layout as an abstract classroom exercise, the workshop will use
the actual timbers for the Pavilion as the teaching material. Participants will learn by
laying out real timbers that will become part of a permanent community structure.

Enrollment: Limited to 12 to ensure a high level of hands-on instruction and instructor
access.

PurposeOn site camping will be provided by our hosts, Orange Baptist Church

Breakfast and Lunch are included in the registration fee.
