Glenn Dodge and Will Truax will be leading a Scribing Workshop, March 21-23, at Dodgco Timber Framing (30 Woodbury Road, New Boston, NH).
This workshop will convey how to scribe a frame in its entirety, how to use lines on a lofting floor, and how to marry a wall to a bent as well as roof-plane to a plate using the snap-line datums on the timber. In short, this workshop offers a systems approach to scribing a frame from beginning to end.
Cutting and final fabrication will follow at the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance (NHPA) “Old House & Barn Expo,” March 24-25 in Manchester. Workshop students are encouraged to attend and participate in the cutting and fabrication at the expo. The frame will then be raffled off at the Expo with proceeds going to the NHPA and TFG.
Those interested should bring their ink-lines, plumbettes, dividers, and trammels. Also, since scribe seldom follows sharp right angles, hand-saws and axes are best suited – so bring them along too!
