Saturday, April 28th – Intro to Timber Framing Workshop 9:30 AM- 5:00 PM

Cost $160

On Saturday, there will be an intro to Timber Framing workshop where participants will build a covered bench for a local community organization. This basic intro to timber framing will cover topics from timber selection, surfacing options, reading plans, layout methods, (concentrating on edge rule layout) some basic roof math and rafter layout.  Cutting of mortise and tenon joinery, peg layout drilling and fit up.  We will have demos of some specialized timber framing tools by professional joiners.  The main goal of the workshop is teaching, but if we are lucky and work hard, hopefully we will have a finished frame to look at, at the end of the day!  Required tools: extension cord, circular saw, tape measure, framing square, pencils, utility knife, 1”-2” chisels, mallet, PSE.  If you are missing an item or two, don’t let it stop you, we will do our best to have some extras on hand. Lunch included.

(Workshop attendees may join the regional gathering at the conclusion of the workshop at no additional cost)
