Learn basic timber frame joinery techniques while creating an Artful Entrance Pavilion from cypress. From layout to handraising, participate in all aspects of heavy timber framing to include reading shop drawings, tooling, joint layout, and cutting. Raise the completed pavilion on the grounds of the Appalachian Center for Craft. Due to time constraints, some of the joinery will be completed prior to the workshop. Conclude the class with an optional tour of Homestead Timber Frames, Inc., in Crossville, Tennessee.

Homestead Timber Frames, LLC, located in Crossville, TN, has a thirty-year history of building timber frame structures. They have been guiding forces in the Timber Framers Guild of North America. Tim Dennis and Micah Seals, both members of the Homestead Timber Frame team, have BFA degrees in wood from Tennessee Tech University's Appalachian Center for Craft and extensive experience in furniture making, cabinetry, and joinery.
