My favorite project was The Gwozdziec Synagogue reconstruction in Poland 2011/ 2013. ANd there are so many reasons why that was an amazing project: The scale of the project with a crew of 30 timber framers over 7 weeks teaching four groups of students that cycled through in 10 day rotations... It really made me focus on teaching techniques and communication. This experience and the confidence put in me by the lead team let me realize that teaching is fun and rewarding while always challenging and exhausting. I learned a ton during this intense time spent with hand tools, hewing and cutting and trying tools I'd never touched before. The resulting frame was stunning. Being in Poland, first in the countryside close to Ukraine and Slovakia and later in downtown Warsaw was beautiful and exciting in itself. I get a lot of energy from working with Community Building project crowds. While many other smaller projects did much the same things, this one takes the cake. So far.
