The Island School of Building Arts is looking for an experienced, capable instructor for our two, four-week Log Building courses, scheduled for June and September 2018. Located on picturesque Gabriola Island, BC, ISBA has been teaching Log and Timber construction skills to students from around the world and supplying industry with knowledgeable craftspeople for over 20 years.
This opportunity will appeal to individuals with a comprehensive background in and a passion for Log Building and working with wood on a large scale. Transferring that knowledge to students of all ages is both an inherent and learned skill, so successful applicants will have construction experience, with the desire and ability to teach. The school teaches centre-line layout theory with course curriculum, instructor’s guide, project materials and shop assistant provided. ISBA owner/instructor, James Mitchell, will mentor and support the successful applicant.
ISBA offers three big wood courses in both the spring and fall sessions, each four weeks in length: Building with Logs, Timber Frame Post and Beam and Timber Frame Hammer Bents.
Compensation is commensurate with experience and accommodations on site are available. Must be able to work in Canada.
