This summer, the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps and Building Heritage will offer a 17-week Timber Framing Pre-Apprenticeship program. As a new evolution of the VYCC Pro Build model, this crew experience will be dedicated to skill development and work-based learning opportunities in historic preservation and new timber frame construction. Focused on projects located on the VYCC campus in Richmond, VT, Timber Frame Crew Members will work on the following this upcoming year (subject to change):
- An outdoor large-scale compost structure for VYCC’s organic farm program
- Timber frame restoration of a c. 1901 Horse Barn on campus
- Cutting a new frame for a cabin or outdoor kitchen
- Off-site projects with Building Heritage to gain additional work site experience
