Timber Frame company in Western North Carolina is seeking a full-time timber framer, for a busy timber frame shop in Franklin, NC. Timber framing is a distinctive style of building in which heavy timbers frame the structure instead of more slender dimensional lumber. One of the most defining elements of a timber frame is its unique joinery. Heavy timber is joined together via mortises and tenons, then secured with wooden pegs. Experience is a plus but not necessary. Basic construction knowledge, experience with powered hand tools, measuring tapes, etc. and the ability to read plans is a MUST. A valid drivers license and clean driving record are also a MUST as there are times you may need to drive company vehicles. We're looking for a qualified person who can grade and layout timbers in the shop, cut timbers based on timber frame drawings and assist in the trial fitting and installation of work. If you are afraid of heights, please do not apply. Primary work days are Monday – Friday 7:30 – 4:30. The majority of our work is done here in Western, NC and Northeast, GA but, occasional out of town travel is required to install the timber frame(s) after they've been crafted. Drive time to and from the site, motel and meals are paid by the company for out of town installations. Paid holidays off from the start and PTO time after 1 year.
