The Timber Framers Guild and Will Gusakov of Goosewing Timberworks are teaming up to offer a weeklong tour in Normandy, France, April 19-25.
We'll spend our week visiting various sites in Normandy. We can expect to take in a broad slice of the history and culture of the region. We'll visit a contemporary timber frame job site, medieval Templar tithe barns, Renaissance-era timbered market halls, castles and abbeys, and vernacular farms, the seaside towns of the Cote Fleurie, and enjoy the beautiful landscapes of Normandy in springtime. We will also be sure to visit some local markets to get a sense of a real French marché, and have some free time in cities and towns for folks to explore.
And did we mention the food? We'll enjoy a mix of catered and restaurant meals that will showcase the cuisine of the country and region: Normandy is known for its apples and cider, cheeses, and fresh seafood. Lodging will be in simple, historic guesthouses in a rural setting.
The cost for participants is $3,500 and includes all in-country accommodations, transport, meals, and admissions, beginning April 19 and ending April 25. Participants will be responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from France.
