The Timber Framers Guild travels to Germany April 27 - May 6!
On this trip, we will be focusing on southeast Germany, mostly Bavaria and surrounding areas - a region rich with history, culture, and unique structures.
We have designed a trip that's big on experience and light on driving, so that we can spend more time in some beautiful places, with local guides as well as on our own.
We’ll have two “home base” towns: Regensburg and Rosenheim. We’ll stay the majority of our nights there, spending time in these beautiful and historic places, while making forays to nearby sites, including the famous medieval walled in city Rothenburg ob der Tauber, the beautiful half-timbered town of Bad Staffelstein, and the Chemisee region. We’ll visit trade schools teaching the next generation of students the ancient art of timber framing. We’ll tour companies doing modern timber work and restoring historic frames. We’ll have some structured guided tours as well as opportunities to explore in groups or by ourselves.
All in-country transportation is covered, as is double-occupancy lodging (single available for a small fee), admissions, and most food.
