The Guild travels to Wisconsin for a unique Community Building Project, hosted by the Union Threshermen’s Club . We are excited for the opportunity to build a new carousel pavilion to house the organization’s restored vintage carousel. The Union Threshermen’s Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the agricultural and homesteading heritage of Wisconsin, and celebrating the technologies of yesteryear. Each July, it hosts an event featuring antique farm equipment in action, daily demonstrations, and a weekend of community, craftsmanship, and connection. Our local heroes, Brian and Michele Zabel (Zabel’s Sawmill ), are donating timber for this project as well as their time, and Guild member Joe Gruentzel is leading the project from the partner side. The 12-sided structure has been designed by Joe Gruentzel and Brian Zabel, using the services of Joe Miller and Moyer Fountain, and will have a clear span of 53’ at the posts, a porch on one side for a ticket booth, and a 12-sided lantern on the roof. The Guild seeks one project manager, four instructors, and 35 volunteers for this project, which will take place June 13-21 in Manawa, Wisconsin.
