Key Responsibilities

As an Experienced Timber Framer at Wheelhouse Builders, your duties will include:

•Performing precision layout of timber frames in the shop based on architectural plans and shop drawings.

•Fabricating, assembling, and finishing timbers using stationary shop equipment, portable power tools, and traditional hand tools (e.g., chisels, mallets).

•Cutting clean, accurate mortise and tenon joints, and squaring joinery on timber.

•Surfacing, sanding, and finishing timbers to meet our high-quality standards.

•Safely moving materials using forklifts and other heavy equipment.

•Traveling to job sites to assist with the safe and efficient erection and installation of timber frames.

•Inspecting materials to ensure all products meet quality standards and job specifications.

•Maintaining a clean, safe, and professional work environment in the shop and on-site.

•Assisting with the maintenance of shop equipment, tools, and company vehicles.

Required Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess the following:

•Experience: A proven background as a timber framer with demonstrated skill in a wood shop setting and on-site construction.

•Technical Skills: Strong ability to effectively read and understand layout and building plans. Excellent knowledge of materials, techniques, and tools.

•Tool Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to safely use portable and stationary power tools as well as traditional hand tools.

•Equipment Operation: Experience operating forklifts and other heavy equipment (e.g., telehandlers, boom lifts) is highly preferred.

•Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, perform precision work, work comfortably at heights, and use ladders and staging.

•Attributes: A self-motivated, quality-oriented professional with a positive attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.

•Requirements: A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
