Join Executive Director Jackson DuBois in Cooperstown, New York, for a fun weekend of all things timber frame!
Jackson will join Nevan Carling at Hyde Hall to shake out, assess, and begin some simple repairs on a nice frame that's been moved there from a site over the hill. He says, "It's a lovely little frame in decent shape and looks to be one of the older ones around. Long term, the plan will be to hew some sills and raise it on the Hyde Hall site in the spring of 2026.
What Else is Happening
The Hyde Hall Covered Bridge will celebrate its 200th birthday on Saturday, October 11, in the park with activities focused on community and history. You can learn more HERE, but we can look forward to some great presentations on the Hyde Hall Bridge as well as the history of covered bridges (including one from Jan Lewandoski!). The celebration is sponsored by New York State Parks’ Glimmerglass and the Hyde Hall State Historic Site, along with the New York State Covered Bridge Society, the Theodore Burr Covered Bridge Resource Center, the National Society for the Preservation of Covered Bridges, and other organizations devoted to the history and preservation of covered bridges.
