Northwest Rendezvous 2023

Join us for the Northwest Rendezvous, August 25-27! 

Pitch your tent at Silver Falls State Park in Sublimity, Oregon (near Silverton), for the weekend and let's have some timber frame fun! The weekend kicks off with a park tour on Friday, including an exploration of WPA projects on-site. In the evening, join us for dinner after happy hour and then a slide show featuring some recent - and not-so-recent - Community Building Projects. We are excited to announce that Sunrise Occupational Yoga will be offered Saturday and Sunday mornings! Join certified instructor Valkyrie Liles to welcome the day at 7 a.m.

Also on Friday, Guild board member Kieran Taylor will open the afternoon with an introduction to timber framing concepts and we will get started building the new kiosk for the park.

The kiosk project will run through the weekend and participants are welcome to come and go since there will be so much going on during the rest of the Rendezvous!

Thursday, August 24

Camping available starting Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Howard Creek Horse Camp in the park. Camping is included with your registration!

Friday, August 25

• 12 p.m. - Welcome, registration, & lunch
• 1-5 p.m. - Intro to timber framing concepts & kiosk layout
• 2-4:30 p.m. - Tour of WPA projects within the park presented by Friends of Silver Falls State Park
• 5 p.m. - Happy hour
• 6 p.m. - Dinner
• 7 p.m. - TFG Community Building Projects: Projects Past & Present

Saturday, August 26

• 7 a.m. - Sunrise Occupational Yoga with Valkyrie Liles
• 8 a.m. - Breakfast
• 9 a.m. - Opening remarks
• 10 a.m. - Tool sharpening demo with Yann Giguère
• 10-12 p.m. - Kiosk build with Kieran McLaury Taylor & friends
• 11 a.m. - Timber Framing: a One-Person Show? with Scott McClure & friends
• 12 p.m. - Lunch
• 1-5 p.m. - Kiosk build
• 2 p.m. - Developing the ideal relationship with your engineer with Jennifer Anthony
• 3 p.m. - Brace layout demo with Bill Sturm & friends
• 4 p.m. - TF Olympics: Axe Throwing
• 5 p.m. - Happy hour
• 6 p.m. - Dinner
• 7:30 p.m. - Timber Frame Olympics (events TBA)

Sunday, August 27

• 7 a.m. - Sunrise Occupational Yoga with Valkyrie Liles
• 8:30 a.m. - Brunch
• 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Kiosk frame fitting with mock-up raising, rigging, and safety talk
• 10 a.m. - Featured speaker: Yann Giguère (Mokuchi Woodworking) - "The Japanese Approach, from Shack to Temple" 
• 11 a.m. - Tour of WPA-era youth camp (tentative)
