Join the Guild Designer Register

Request for Qualifications:

The Guild is developing a policy for hiring timber frame designers, architects, and engineers to provide services to our Community Building Projects Program. The Community Building Project designer procurement policy will provide equal opportunities for architects, structural engineers, designers, and other providers of professional design services to Community Building Projects (CBPs).

To make these opportunities available to all qualified Guild members, we are starting a Guild Designer Register. Those listed on the register will receive requests for proposals (RFPs) when the Guild is hiring designers for Community Building Projects.

Qualification criteria for listing on the register are:

  • Frame designer - minimum 2 years experience working full-time as a frame designer.
  • Structural engineer - bachelor's or master's degree in structural engineering, licensed as a professional engineer (relevant jurisdiction to be determined at RFP stage), 2 years experience engineering timber frames, carry professional design liability insurance of $1 million.
  • Architect - bachelor's or master's degree in architecture, licensed as an architect (relevant jurisdiction to determine at RFP stage), 2 years experience performing architectural services, carry professional design liability insurance of $1 million.

Registration is open at any time without time limit - you can register now or next year.

If you are registered and receive an RFP, you are under no obligation to respond or even acknowledge receipt of the RFP. If you choose to respond, you must do so in compliance with the terms of the RFP. Each RFP will be specific to the project in question and timebound.

If you are qualified and wish to register, please send an email to projects@tfguild.org and info@tfguild.org and include the following information:

  • Discipline (frame design, structural engineering, or architecture). You can register in more than one discipline provided you are qualified.
  • Business name
  • Contact name
  • Address
  • Phone
  • Email
  • Website
  • List of previous Guild projects for which you have provided services.
