Rudy and his wife Laura Saeger will be there to discuss the deconstruction, repairs, and raising of the building. Ben Brungraber of Fire Tower Engineered Timber will be on hand to talk about the engineering challenges of the project. The tour will also include a visit to Firestone Barn.

Join Will Denton IV for a tour of the JST Detroit Engineering Center, designed by Ryuichi Ashizawa Architects (Osaka, Japan), at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 20. The facility consists of seven unique timber frames, with a design principle of melding Japanese craft with American carpentry practices. This project is seven years running, with several more to go, and has included architects from Japan to New Jersey, using solid sawn wood in almost every way conceivable.
