Join Us for a Pre-Conference Event: TFEC Symposium

We are looking forward to the TFEC Symposium, hosted this year at the JST Detroit Engineering Center in Farmington Hills (about 30 minutes from the Conference venue). Rocky Mountain Joinery Center is the timber frame company working on all wood elements of the project, which is still in progress. The site, once completed, will consist of seven unique timber structures designed by Ryuichi Ashizawa Architects out of Osaka, Japan. The overarching principle of the structures is to meld Japanese timber craft with American carpentry practices.

We will have the opportunity to tour the facility with Guild member Will Denton IV on Tuesday, October 15, and return for a full day of symposium sessions on Wednesday, October 16. Space is limited for this symposium, so please be sure to stay tuned and sign up for a full day of presentations from industry professionals who will cover a wide range of wood engineering topics, and earn continuing education credits from this AIA-approved event. Whether you are a practicing structural engineer, an architect or designer, a timber framer, or a wood enthusiast, this popular event is an excellent opportunity to increase your knowledge of wood and network with colleagues from around the country.

Other Pre-Conference Events

The Conference Committee is deep in the planning stages for multiple pre-conference events, from workshops to certification sessions. Watch this space for more information soon!
