Community Building Projects Director
I have had a varied career. Starting with an apprenticeship in metal working as a fabricator and machinist, I moved into logging and arborist work before starting my timber framing career with Carpenter Oak & Woodland in 1990.
In 2005, I moved to Vancouver Island to found Macdonald & Lawrence Timber Framing and operated this timber frame business for more than 10 years. More recently, I mix consulting, project management, and consulting, including work for the Guild managing the Community Building Projects Program.
I am a lifetime member of the Guild and have been active since the mid-1990s. I have been a member of the Carpenters Fellowship since its beginnings in 2000 and served as a director for 3 years. I served on the board of the Timber Framers Guild from 2015 to 2022, with much of that time in the role of treasurer.
I have a passion for machinery and making things and am happiest when in the workshop, tinkering with vintage axes and figuring out construction challenges. A lifelong motorcyclist, I love riding my Enduro, street, and vintage bikes. I live near Duncan on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, with my partner Keri and our two cats.
