Steve Lawrence

Steve Lawrence is the Owner/Founder of Thujacraft, a firm specializing in the design, building, and project management for timber frame projects, bringing 40 years of deep experience in heavy timber construction to communities, non-profits, and private clients. He has worked as a conservator of traditional wood buildings ranging from Windsor Castle in the United Kingdom to Fort McMurray Heritage Park in Alberta, Canada. Previously, Steve was co-owner of specialist carpentry company Macdonald & Lawrence Timber Framing, served as project manager at Carpenter Oak & Woodland Co, Ltd. UK, and has additionally worked as a logger and arborist. 

Steve is a founder and past board member of the Carpenters Fellowship UK and past board member of the Timber Framers Guild. He has been honored eight times with awards from Heritage BC for his conservation and restoration work, and was presented with a royal medallion struck by Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip to commemorate the work he and others completed on Windsor Castle. 

He has a passion for machinery and making things, and is happiest when in the workshop, tinkering with vintage axes and figuring out construction challenges. Steve lives on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, with his partner Keri and two cats.
