Detailing Cross Laminated Timber Connections
Timber Design Guide 2019-15. Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) panels are commonly used in timber structures. As with any structural element, proper detailing of the connections is crucial. Structures with practical connection details are usually cost-efficient and easy to fabricate and assemble, whereas poorly conceived connection details will often result in an overly costly structure plagued with difficulty.

The Specialty Timber Frame Engineer
Timber Design Guide 2. This document presents some of the issues associated with the practice of engineering timber structures as a Specialty Structural Engineer and presents recommendations for standards of practice that are specific to the timber frame industry.

Capacity of Pegged Connections
Technical Bulletin No. 01. Timber frame structures often rely on pegged mortise and tenon connections to secure members together. Wood pegs, while large in diameter, are considerably more flexible than a steel dowel of the same size. Engineering design of these pegged tension connections is not addressed in the National Design Specification for Wood Construction (NDS). This bulletin provides a review and further explanation of the development of the design equations included in the TFEC approach, along with a numerical example of their application.
