Heartwood 2020: Timber Framing Intensive, July 8

As thunderstorms were forecast, the students availed themselves of the dry start to continue cutting the wall posts and plates. The class is a little less than half-full, so Will brought out the Mafell chain mortiser and demonstrated its use, allowing each student to employ this specialized tool and speed the fabrications.

By the end of the day, it was clear that the class of intrepid learners has more than a modicum of talent and skill and the progress is right on track, much to the instructor’s relief….
